A survey of the state's 20 largest independent schools conducted by The Advertiser has shown great variation in fee increases.
One school has raised senior secondary fees by 13.2 per cent while others have absorbed economic pressure and kept the rise at or below 5 per cent.
Most parents will have to find an extra $272 on average to send their child to a private school in South Australia this year.
Popular Torrens Park school Scotch College continues to be one of the state's most expensive with Year 12 fees of $19,160, up about $1000 from last year.
